Philosophy
of Ministry: We are
involved in Youth Ministry to make Jr. and Sr. High School Students
who are engaging and growing disciples of Jesus Christ.
Purpose
Statement: As disciples of Jesus Christ we will
glorify God by knowing, loving, and serving Him with all of our
heart, soul, mind, and strength. Mark 12:30-31
Accomplishing
our purpose through:
-Exalting
God through Sunday Morning worship and Bible classes, prayer,
and service to the church and our community.
-Edifying
believers through Sunday Morning Bible classes, service projects
for our church and community, small group discipleship, annual
retreats, youth leadership council, and mission trips to Bush
Alaska and Mexico.
-Evangelizing
the lost through Wednesday and Sunday Night youth group meetings
including youth group Big Events, gym nights, Mission trips to
Bush Alaska and Mexico, and Personally witnessing to those around
us.
Parents of
teens in Anchorage Grace Youth Ministry can expect that their
student will be challenged to grow in their relationship with
Jesus Christ. Sunday morning Bible classes are
engaging, in-depth Bible Studies which seek to deepen the students
understanding of God’s Word and strengthen their heart’s
commitment to be a follower of Jesus Christ. Sundays start at
9am with a youth led time of worship. The Bible studies alternate
between Old Testament and New Testament books of the Bible.
Weekly
Youth Group Meetings occur on Sunday nights at
6 pm for Jr. High and Wednesday Nights at 7pm for Sr. High students.
Each night has a different focus as we strive to encourage, serve,
and love others. We do this through big events designed to reach
out to non-Christians, service projects, gym nights, and worship
and missions nights that introduce students to mission opportunities.
We have a Scripture study time each night that seeks to challenge
students to deepen their relationship with God.
The theme for our Group this year is “Knowing God.”
We will be studying the attributes of God through the year.
Small
Groups and Bible Studies
are designed for students who want to go deeper into God’s
word. Bible Studies are for Jr. High students and are separated
out into boys and girls studies. The Girls Bible Study meets on
Wednesday’s @ 3:30pm in Room #221. The Boys Bible Study
meets on Tuesday’s @ 3:30pm in Room #221. These studies
alternate going through Old and New Testament books of the Bible,
or topical studies. They will have some homework for students
that encourage personal Bible Study. Small Groups are for High
School students and are designed for students to meet with two
other teens and an adult mentor leader. The studies alternate
between Old Testament and New Testament books. There is an expectation
of commitment place on the student to be involved in personal
Bible study during the week and attendance at the small group
study time.
Youth
Leadership Council exists to encourage students
with leadership qualities to strengthen their gifts and to cast
a vision for ministry throughout their lives. This is open to
High School students and is restricted to a limited number of
five.
Missions
trips are designed for students to broaden their
view of the world and to cast a vision for reaching the world
for Christ. The Missions trip to Work at Tanalian Bible Camp in
Port Alsworth Alaska is open to students 14 years and older. The
Missions trip to Mexico is open to High School Students. The dates
for our trip this year are March 26th through April 3rd.
