Carroll
Schmidt
Carroll accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior in early
1968 and was baptized by immersion on May 12, 1968, when he was
27 years old, at First Christian Church in Anchorage. His wife
Phyllis helped him understand that Jesus Christ is our intercessor
and that through His grace, He is the only one who can give us
salvation.
Carroll attended
First Christian Church for six years, where he sang in the choir
and helped as a leader in youth group activities. In 1971 he and
his wife moved to South Anchorage, where they became members of
the Chapel by the Sea Bible Church.
At Chapel
by the Sea, Carroll sang in the choir, taught Sunday school, and
served as an elder for six years. He served as the Missions Coordinator
for three years. Carroll and Phyllis joined Anchorage Grace Church
in 1988 when their son entered Grace Christian School.
Besides his
service as an elder, Carroll is part of the visitation ministry,
greeter ministry, food shelf ministry, and teaching English Second
Language at Mt. View Baptist, our sister church.
One of his
favorite scripture verses is from 1 Co. 13:13 – "And
now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of
these is love."
